Individual Therapy

I specialize and am trained in the following:

  • Somatic therapy is a holistic approach to healing trauma that emphasizes the connection between the mind and body. Trauma can leave a lasting imprint on the body, if left unresolved, which could look like: unexplained physical tension, pain, numbness, chronic illness, or even the experience of feeling easily “highjacked” by strong feelings of fear or threat in moments that may not match the real level of danger.

Some of the benefits of somatic therapy may include:

    • Reduced Physical Symptoms: Alleviation of chronic pain, tension, and other bodily discomforts associated with trauma.

    • Emotional Regulation: Improved ability to find more ease and safety even in the midst of strong emotions.

    • Increased Resilience: Enhanced capacity to cope with stress and future challenges.

    • Greater Self-awareness: A deeper understanding of one’s bodily responses and how they relate to emotional and psychological experiences.

Through tailored techniques and a compassionate approach, my goal is to help individuals reconnect with their bodies, process their experiences, and regain a sense of safety and resilience in their bodies and lives.

  • Many people enter therapy after a breakup or a slew of breakups. They recognize a painful pattern of continuing to date the “wrong” person over and over. Or maybe they struggle to get along with their family, coworkers, friends, and as a result feel confused and lonely. Relationships of any kind may be fraught with conflict, hurt, worry, jealousy, or disappointment.

Individual therapy for these relational issues is a helpful way to gain a better understanding of why you may get stuck in the same difficult patterns over and over and how to create the changes needed to develop and maintain relationships that feel secure.

Somatic therapy can be particularly effective as it acknowledges and works with the body’s responses to these challenges. During sessions, we will explore how your body reacts to relational stressors and the physical manifestation of emotions tied to people pleasing and boundary-setting. Techniques such as mindfulness, body awareness exercises, and gentle movement practices will be used to help you recognize and understand these bodily sensations.

  • Sexuality is a deeply personal and multifaceted aspect of the human experience, often influenced by physical sensations, emotional patterns, and past experiences. For those facing sexual challenges—whether rooted in trauma, shame, disconnect from the body, or difficulty in expressing desires—somatic therapy offers a profoundly integrative approach. By tuning into the body’s inherent wisdom, we can begin to uncover and gently address the barriers that hinder a fulfilling connection to one’s sexuality.

In our sessions, we will explore the ways your body holds and expresses sexual energy, as well as how past events might have shaped your relationship to intimacy and pleasure. Techniques such as consent and boundary work, guided visualization, and mindful movement will be employed to foster a deeper sense of embodiment and trust in your own sexual identity and expression. The aim is not only to address challenges but also to help you develop a greater sense of agency, comfort, and joy in your sexual self.

This process can lead to transformative outcomes, such as enhancing your ability to communicate desires, establishing clear boundaries, and cultivating a sense of safety and satisfaction in intimate relationships. Together, we will work toward nurturing a whole-body experience of sexuality that feels authentic and empowering.

  • My training in trauma-informed and somatic therapy provides a compassionate and effective approach to understanding and addressing the multifaceted nature of anxiety. This method recognizes the profound connection between the mind and body, focusing on how unresolved trauma or chronic stress can manifest as physical tension, racing thoughts, or an inability to feel grounded.

Somatic therapy complements this process by helping you tune into your body’s signals—those subtle sensations and cues often overshadowed by the mental whirlwind of anxiety.

Through practices that support your nervous system, we will work together to cultivate greater awareness of how anxiety affects your body. For example, you might notice tightness in your chest, shallow breathing, or restlessness in your limbs—important clues to the body’s response to stress. By learning to recognize and regulate these physical sensations, you can create a sense of calm and restore balance to your body and mind.

Somatic therapy also emphasizes grounding techniques, which can be particularly effective for individuals who feel detached or overwhelmed during moments of anxiety. These exercises help anchor you in the present moment, fostering a sense of safety and stability. Developing a deeper connection with your body can enhance your resilience and provide tools to manage anxiety in daily life.

  • Depression is a deeply personal and often overwhelming experience that touches every part of life—our emotions, our thoughts, and even how we feel physically. If you’ve found yourself struggling with feelings of disconnection, heaviness, or hopelessness, together, we can explore how a combination of approaches—trauma-informed support, attachment-based healing, and somatic therapy—can help you find your way back to a place of resilience and self-compassion.

Depression isn’t just about symptoms—it’s often tied to past experiences that have shaped how you see yourself, others, and the world. If you’ve faced adversity, whether in the form of acute trauma or relational wounds like neglect and lack of emotional safety these moments may have left an imprint on your nervous system, creating feelings of overwhelm or disconnection. Our work will begin with creating an environment where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore these experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

We’ll look at how early relationships may have shaped your inner world—including your ability to trust, to feel worthy of love, and to connect with others. If there’s been a sense of loneliness or isolation in your life, we’ll gently work together to repair those relational wounds. Our therapeutic relationship can become a secure base for you, offering a safe space to explore emotions, develop self-compassion, and find new ways to connect with yourself and others.
